The piece Rêverie, composed in 1890 by Claude Debussy, gave me the chance to explore the possibilities and timbral varieties of the vibraphone, stimulating the searching for new colours and sonorities. This new pianistic vision of the instrument makes it possibile a lyrical phrasing distributed among the different octaves, making smoother the left-hand arpeggios. The vibraphone, in particular, emphasizes the imaginative and dreamy side of the piece, thanks to Debussy’ skilful use of the damper resonance pedal.
