Description

Op.14

by Alberto Secondo Gallo

These 24 Preludes for Piano are a collection of short melodious and evocative pieces, composed in all major and minor keys.

The purpose of the work is to reaffirm the importance of the tonal system among the various musical languages: tonality, in fact, is not the only language for writing music, but it is certainly the most natural, powerful and expressive. The series of pieces is organized according to a harmonic progression that develops along the circle of fifths, with parallel major and minor keys in sequence. This order pays homage both to the Well-Tempered Clavier by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 – 1750) and to the 24 Preludes Op. 28 by Fryderyk

Chopin (1810 – 1849).

The total duration of the pieces is approximately fourty-five minutes.

This collection, composed between 2023 and 2024, is dedicated to Doctor Meike Klüver from Hamburg, as a sign of deep gratitude for her kindness and support towards me.

I would also like to express my sincere thanks to the publisher Gianni Giuseppe Bannetta, who agreed to publish this work with Edizioni Mulph.
